Nicole Shumway

Dr. Nicole Shumway is an applied marine conservation biologist at the University of Queensland. Her research encompasses the fields of conservation biology, marine and coastal restoration, and environmental policy, with a focus on quantifying and minimising the effect of people on at risk ecosystems. Her research assess’ the potential impacts of human and environmental change on threatened species and ecosystems and seeks to promote conservation by interfacing science with policy. Her research uses interdisciplinary approaches to solve real world problems, in order to increase the environmental sustainability of ecosystems. Nicki is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Policy Futures at The University of Queensland and is part of the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program. Her research at the Centre explores the policy implications of innovative marine restoration practices in the Great Barrier Reef.
