Anthea Coggan
Dr Anthea Coggan is an economist with CSIRO Land and Water based in Brisbane, Australia. Anthea's research focuses on the design and analysis of economic instruments to bring about improved land management for environmental outcomes. Anthea has extensive experience understanding the design intricacies of conservation auctions and biodiversity offsets and is an expert in understanding the extent, drivers and distribution of transaction costs in environmental policy development and implementation. With an increasing focus on catchments to the Great Barrier Reef (GBR), Anthea is advancing the application of economic science to water quality management in the GBR, influencing the way catchment managers fund, design and implement incentive schemes for improved land management. Anthea has lead social and economic indicator development, survey design and implementation methodology to investigate barriers, drivers and experiences of adoption of land management practices across Australia including catchments to the GBR. Anthea is a member of the OGBR’s Human Dimensions Working Group, a technical advisor on economics and human dimensions to the GBR Regional Report Card Working Group and a technical advisor on the Technical Working Group of the Agricultural Management Practice Adoption Target Review.
