Craig McPherson
Craig is the Director of Asia Pacific Operations, for JASCO, and leads the company in the Asia Pacific region. Since joining JASCO in 2009, he has worked as a project manager, field lead, a principal analyst, and a report author in Australia and abroad. Craig has extensive field experience leading projects across multiple time zones and conducting real-time and autonomous monitoring projects globally.
In his current role, he manages and leads Australian impact assessments and field and modelling projects, participates in JASCO’s global activities, and represents JASCO globally in business development activities and at scientific conferences. Craig excels in this role because of his thorough knowledge of the physical aspects of underwater acoustics, the global regulatory requirements with respect to impact assessment criteria, and the experimental designs for acoustic studies.
Craig has played a significant role in increasing the standard of underwater acoustic impact assessments within Australia, leading a large number of modelling studies for seismic surveys, pile driving (including offshore wind), and vessels/drilling, and including the first projects to use agent-based simulations to assist in impact assessments in Australian waters. He is currently leading a project to develop underwater noise guidelines for the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
