Tabitha Brown
Tabitha Brown is a PhD candidate at The University of Queensland and is currently conducting research at Sea World Australia on king and gentoo penguins under human-care. After completion of a Bachelors of Medical Science degree, Tabitha continued into a Masters of Marine Science where she conducted her research on little penguins under human-care to assess substrate use and swimming behaviour in association to bumblefoot disease. Tabitha has a strong research focus on animal welfare, enrichment, behaviour physiology, hormonal physiology, animal behaviour responses to guest interactions, and optimisation of environmental conditions with aims of optimising husbandry and management of penguins in zoos and aquaria around the world and better understanding potential risks to wild colonies.
