Simona Laukaityte
I started my pathway in biology at Vytautas Magnus University in my hometown Kaunas, Lithuania. After that, I received an international Erasmus Mundus scholarship award to study master’s degree of marine biodiversity and conservation. There I discovered my interest in seagrass ecosystems, anthropogenic impacts, and climate change, and ever since I have been dedicating my time and energy to work with different seagrass species both in Europe and Asia. Now I have stepped forward in putting my skills into practice to obtain a joint doctorate degree at University of Groningen in The Netherlands and Macquarie University in Australia, in order to be able to contribute to scientific knowledge with novel insights into seagrass ecosystem functioning.
