Bell is Honorary Senior Fellow in the School of Chemical Engineering at The University of Queensland and the Founding Director of the University of Queensland Low Isles Research station. His research work focuses on the causes and impacts of eutrophication in the marine environment. This work involves the use of satellite remote sensing, modelling and field/laboratory determinations for the assessment of the impacts of Trichodesmium on the GBR lagoon.
